Web Page Hosting is where your home page is stored in a directory on
Digital Daze's world wide web server. Your home page address will be
http://www.digitaldaze.com/yourname.
Web Page Hosting is useful when you do not require your own domain
name or you want to test an Internet presence before investing in a
full-scale web site.
Pre-installed CGI Scripts
-
Digital Daze has preinstalled useful CGI scripts on our web server that
you may make use of as a Digital Daze Web Page Hosting client. Please see
the Web Host CGI Script Index for more information.
Custom CGI Support
-
Upload your ready to run Perl cgi script to your account directory
(you can create a cgi-bin directory if you wish). Then e-mail support and they will make the
script executable. Please remember the script must be compatibile with
BSDi BSD 3.1 Unix and Apache web server software.
Forms Support
-
Forms are just a part of your regular HTML files. If a form requires
special processing, it is usually handled by a CGI script (as described
above).
Page Statistics Log Files
-
Every Sunday morning at 2am, weekly log files will be copied to your
home directory overwriting the previous weeks logs if they exist. The log
files consist of Access Log, Referer Log, and Error Log. They are in the standard
NCSA Common Log File format and can be read by the various
statistical/graphical packages that support them or you can use the Digital Daze Web Page Access Statistics form.
E-Mail Auto-responder [optional]
-
An e-mail autoresponder can be used to send frequently requested
information automatically via e-mail. Any e-mail sent to your
autoresponder address will receive an automatic reply containing
the information you specify.
Create a text file and place it in your account root directory (the
directory you end up in when you log in). Name this file
autoreply.txt A sample autoreply.txt is
included here for your reference. It provides an example layout for a
autoresponse message. Any e-mail sent to yourname-info@digitaldaze.com
will automatically receive the autoreply.txt file as a e-mail reply.
The e-mail that is sent to your autoresponse mailbox, is also sent to
your main Digital Daze E-Mail Address. This is useful in case the person
sending the e-mail isn't aware they are dealing with an autoresponder. You
can read their question or comment and respond as necessary.
To request the e-mail autoresponder, please send e-mail to service@digitaldaze.com.
POP/IMAP Mailbox [optional]
-
The POP/IMAP mailbox option gives you a real mailbox on the Digital
Daze mail server. This could be useful if you want to separate your
business e-mail from your personal e-mail.
You will need to use an e-mail application that
supports either the POP or IMAP protocol to access this mailbox.
To request the POP/IMAP mailbox, please send e-mail to service@digitaldaze.com.
